Data Engineer
Our partnered firm are looking for a strong generalist that enjoys solving complex data processing problems at scale, and writing robust software. You’ll spend your time building reliable, scalable data pipelines and services, geared toward empowering our team of data scientists and engineers working on problems at the intersection of NLP, time series forecasting, and trend detection. You will have the opportunity to contribute in all phases of the dev lifecycle – from suggesting the use of emerging technologies and rapid prototyping solutions, to maintaining and upgrading existing complex architecture.
Requirements:
- 4+ years professional experience as a data or software engineer
- Strong programming skills - specifically in python and SQL - with the ability and desire to optimize both
- Experience building, optimizing, and monitoring ETLs
- Strong systems design knowledge; you have a keen sense of how the different parts of a system should interface and scale together
Experience with a couple of the following:
- Cloud operations and architectures, especially for data-heavy applications - specifically on GCP and with BigQuery
- Job scheduling & orchestration frameworks - e.g. Jenkins, Luigi, Airflow, message queues etc.
- Object-Oriented design
Nice to haves:
- Natural language processing (NLP) experience and confidence manipulating unstructured datasets
- Interest in machine learning, and experience building ML-driven or algorithmic data products
- A self-starting, intellectually curious, solutions-oriented mindset
- A love for keeping up with current affairs and the latest trends
