THE OPPORTUNITY
Our Machine Vision team builds computer vision and machine learning models to detect property conditions and identify property risk factors using aerial imagery. We are looking for a Data Engineer to join the team to build, test and maintain our ever-evolving architecture/environment including our R&D database and cloud storage system. The Data Engineer will work very closely with our data scientists and machine learning engineers to empower their research and ensure smooth operations, and with our engineering team to enable integration with and seamless flow in and out of our production environment.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Designing, building and maintaining machine vision data warehouse including PostgreSQL database and Google cloud storage
  • Creating and supporting existing python orchestration pipelines to facilitate reliable and efficient data transfer between research and production environments as well as from external data warehouses (e.g., vendor systems)
  • Identifying issues with existing data and processes; proposing and implementing solutions to resolve issues and improve data reliability, efficiency and quality
  • Creating data dashboards and reporting of data (e.g., size of datasets, quality over time)
  • Building infrastructure to automate data transformations and other data science processes
  • Updating tasks in Jira and keeping good notes

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR COMPANY

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • A minimum of four years of relevant work experience
  • Working knowledge of Python, PostgreSQL
  • Experience working in a container orchestration system like Kubernetes or Docker Swarm
  • Experience working with geospatial data and computer vision data (i.e., imagery)
  • Basic knowledge of data science fundamentals. Expert or hands-on data science experience is not required, but we’re looking for someone who knows the basics since this role will be part of the data science/machine learning team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with GPUs for machine learning acceleration.
  • Experience working with Node.
  • Seeks opportunities for automation and improved efficiencies.
  • Strong initiative, accountability, and is a self-starter.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Agility and comfort pivoting between various workstreams given shift in priorities.
